SILS Independent Student Blog

Help

Q:

By the way, the link you sent to me for the SILS blog didn’t work the way I expected to. It seems to want me to sign up either for a new blog or a new account; I thought I’d be a contributer to an existing one, i.e., I wouldn’t have my own account, or something. Did I get it wrong? I’m pretty new to wikis, and I’ve only started using a commercial blog last fall. I’d appreciate some hints.

A:

Starting an account at WordPress sounds complicated, but once you get the email asking to join, all you do is give them an email address and a name, and then you’re set to start contributing.

Sometimes people feel better about Creating an Account (sound intimidating?) if they know exactly what to expect. So, I created a phony account and took pictures of the process.

1. We send you an invitation, and it arrives in your inbox.

Note: Don’t forget to create a new password. The one they give you is only good for the first time.

If would like to post something, and you haven’t yet requested an invitation (this is how we screen out spammers) please email the request to silsblog’s gmail acct.
