SPRING 2008 Library School Internship Opportunity at Newsweek

The Newsweek Research Center has an internship opportunity for one or
two students for the spring semester.

The Research Center uses leading-edge information technologies to
deliver research to our editorial staff in offices in New York and
around the world.

Our interns will work on indexing of our cover image database, assist
with copy cataloging and adding links to our catalog, and other projects
as assigned, including some news research.

Requirements: completion of at least one information organization
/cataloging course, an online searching course, and currently
matriculating in an MLS program. CANDIDATES: PLEASE REVIEW YOUR
PROGRAM’S REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNSHIP ELIGIBILITY (E.G. CREDITS NEEDED)
BEFORE APPYLING. If interested in news research, experience with Nexis
or other Boolean databases is a plus, along with advanced Web searching
skills.

Hands-on cataloging or database management preferred. Must have some
experience with HTML authoring and Microsoft desktop applications
including Word and Excel. Must have excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated interest in news and current events a plus.

INTERN MUST BE AVAILABLE DURING REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS. THIS IS AN
UNPAID INTERNSHIP TO BE DONE FOR ACADEMIC CREDIT.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in news
and the technical services aspects of special librarianship.
