The SLA@Pratt needs YOU! The board of the student chapter of the Special Libraries Association is graduating and we need to make sure that the SLA@Pratt will not fade away. Involvement in the board is a wonderful experience – not only is it a great way to spend time with members of the NY chapter, but it’s a fantastic way to get to know other members of the Pratt community. For more information on the positions, please see below. Feel free to email any member of the board if you need any further information!

President
-Delegate responsibilities to the board.
-Follow up with all board members and offer support and backup as needed.
–Ensure that all national and Pratt paperwork gets completed.
-Ensure all board positions are filled.
-Publicize all national and NY SLA events.
-Plan and maintain SLA@Pratt’s schedule each semester.
(appx. 2 hours/week – does not include presence at events)
VP-Tours
-Schedule all tours for the semester.
-Maintain sign-up sheets (and wait list) for tours as well as accompany students on all tours.
-Write thank you notes to hosts.
-Create sign up sheets, promoting tours, and confirming tour details with attendees.
-Compose e-mails and then manage the e-mails during sign-up.
(At the busiest it’s been a couple hours a week working on e-mail. It’s often less, tours themselves are in the neighborhood of two hours.)
VP – Membership
- Explain SLA Membership and Benefits at events
- Maintain list of Pratt student members of SLA
- Assist Board Members as necessary
- Time Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per week as well as presence at SLA events
Secretary
-take notes at all SLA@Pratt events.
-Schedule all rooms necessary for meetings and events.
-Maintain SLA@Pratt archives.
-Support other board members as needed.
Treasurer
-Complete annual budget.
-Work with SILS to get money for student events (food).
-Help students understand how to get reimbursed for various SLA related events.
(appx. 2 hours a week)
Webmaster
-maintain SLA@Pratt site — calendar of events, members and officers, etc. (less than 1 hour/week following redesign).
-Initiate new web content as needed.
-Knowledge of Dreamweaver or html required.
-Support other board members as needed.
